The Royal Challengers Bengaluru derailed the Delhi Capitals with an easy eight-wicket win in their fourth Women’s Premier League match played on February 17, 2025, in Vadodara. RCB bowlers with Renuka Singh, Georgia Wareham, and Ekta Bishit did great to restrict the Delhi Capitals, as Wrangler Skipper Captain Smriti Mandana and Danni Wyatt-Hodge gave an opening partnership for chase-down.

DC’s Innings:

After opting to bat first, DC’s opening batter Shafali Verma fell to a golden duck at the hands of Renuka Singh. Captain Meg Lanning, not really in her touch, received a fast 34 off 22 balls from Jemimah Rodrigues. Enter Georgia Wareham, whose induction brought RCB back into the game with some key breakthroughs, including Rodrigues. The middle and lower order of DC faltered, collapsing at 141 runs. Three-wicket bags were achieved by both Renuka Singh and Georgia Wareham.

RCB’s Chase:

Pursuing a target of 142 runs, the opening pair of Smriti Mandhana and Danni Wyatt-Hodge demonstrated spectacular finesse. Mandhana hastened to her half-century off just 27 balls with a final tally of 81 runs. Wyatt-Hodge chipped in a worthy contribution of 42 runs from 33 balls. The benign partnership laid the foundation; notwithstanding Wyatt-Hodge’s dismissals in the 11th over, RCB went on to chase down the target really comfortably within the 17th over with eight wickets to spare.

With this win, we’ve had a continuing trend for successful chases in the tournament, with this match being the fourth one in a row to be won by the team chasing. The overall performance from RCB, both in bowling and batting, solidifies their strong challenge in the league this season.
